5. Drug Addict Friends

Drug addict friends can be difficult because they always need you for something. They can be smelly. They can be on drugs. They can shake a lot. They might steal your cough syrup and not tell you. Drug addict friends often don’t keep their jobs.

It’s a fine line with drug addict friends. You become their parents at times. You have to tell them where the line is that cannot be crossed and you can’t let them back in if they’ve crossed it. Sometimes you have to drive them to rehab bleeding from their mouths and noses. Or go to the hospital after they’ve dived off a building.

Drug addict friends are often drug addicts for a reason. They are usually trying to fix something that doesn’t feel right in their heads. Sometimes they just like to take drugs.

But sometimes you need drug addict friends cuz sometimes they need you and they are the only ones who do. Sometimes it’s better to give somebody money than to see nobody all day. And sometimes they come over and they’re not on drugs and it’s so nice to see them not on drugs or dead that somehow it makes it all worthwhile.
